Comcast Chat

Posted on February 26th, 2009 by Foad in Foad's Blog

To set this off.  My home phone was 1 digit off from Bank Of America’s.  So you can imagine with the amount of wrong number dials there were in Florida.. LOL.  I started a chat with Comcast to see if they would help me out.

Chris > Have an issue with an almost identical phone number. If you dial 296-1771 you get Bank of America.

Janet > Hello Chris_, Thank you for contacting Comcast Live Chat Support. My name is Janet. Please give me one moment to review your information.

Janet > Hi there! How are you doing today?

Chris_ > Pretty good.. Other than getting woken up for Bank of America phone calls

Chris_ > You wouldn’t believe how many people out there in Florida can’t dial.

Chris_ > even had one person from BoA mis-dial his own number.

Janet > I’m sorry to hear that you are getting phone calls from the Bank of America due to an almost identical phone number. This must be frustrating for you.

Chris_ > i know.. it’s almost the same.. just one digit.. how crazy is that.

Chris_ > What can we do about that?

Chris_ > I don’t really want to change my number.. but it’s insane that this would happen in the first place

Janet > Yes, the number is so close that people may misdial. The best thing we can do is to change your number so as not to inconvenience you by many wrong calls.

Chris_ > Will that cost me anything?

Janet > The chaning of number would cost about $20 as a one time charge. Would you like to proceed with the number change, please?

Chris_ > So I have to pay to change my number that’s causing me issues.

Chris_ > that’s not right.. Can you ask a supervisor to see if you can get that waived. Please.. this isn’t my fault and I shouldn’t get charged to change the number.

Janet > Chris, we can’t really predict that a number is almost identical to another number and this is not anybody’s fault. However, I will ask our supervisor about the waive of the changing of number.

Chris_ > Thanks..

Chris_ > Please kindly do the needful, please.  <- BOOYA!

Janet > Thank you very much for your patience, Chris. I’m glad to tell you that our supervisor has waived the fee for the changing of the number as a one time charge.

Chris_ > Thanks wonderful news. Thank you so very very much

Janet > Would you like to proceed with the number change now?

Review: Terminal – Brian Keene

Posted on November 30th, 2008 by Foad in Book Reviews

Warning:  May Contain Spoilers

I managed to get through this book in a matter of 3 days with off and on Turkey and friends visiting for Thanksgiving… I would have to say I am thankful for books.

This was an interesting read.  Not like the other Keene novels I have read, however interesting to say the least.  This starts out with a deep understanding on trailer park living, making ends meet (or trying) in this case.

Our storyteller is “Terminal” Hence the name of the title.   Desperate to make a life for his young kid T.J. and his wife Michelle, and not dealing with his inner voices he allows his friend to make up his choices.

Because I was able to read this book in 3 days I have to give it 4-5 stars.  However the story line seemed like something I would have seen in a movie… OMG wait.  It is going to be a movie.  Info on the Terminal Movie can be found HERE.  I would have to say I am interested to see how they get this one done.  Are they going to “fix” the ending, or leave it the same?

I suppose only time will tell in that regard.

Thanksgiving

Posted on November 27th, 2008 by Foad in Foad's Blog

Hmm, what to be thankful for this year.

a. My son just turned 9 and he knows more than me

b. My house is a farm, yes 2 cats and 2 dogs… and I can’t seem to find any piece and quiet.

Of course the usual stuff… Wife fam and of course… TURKEY.

Well, why isn’t this day just a normal day?  People say it’s to give “Thanks to god”, or “Thanks to the harvest”, or Just plain old holiday that allows you to stuff the shit out of yourself and gain a fucking 100 pounds.

Not sure what I think, except the 100 pounds thing is true.  Definitely not the god thing.  I don’t farm so not the harvest thing either.

I think of Thanksgiving as just the day where the Indians and the settlers got together to watch football or something.

Detroit Vs. Tenn.

Now… Two of my favorite teams going for the win.  Detroit with their all so mighty 0-6 and Tenn with 10-1 hmm.. Who do YOU think will win?

Update: Tenn. 7 Detroit 0… HAHA…

Happy Thanksgiving…

Review: Dead Souls – Michael Laimo

Posted on November 25th, 2008 by Foad in Book Reviews

WARNING:  May Contain Spoilers!!

Dead Souls – What can I say?  When Otaku suggests any type of reading material to me I usually take it under extreme advisement.  In this case he was once correct.  I have fallen deep into the hole that Michael Laimo creates in this smart yet disgusting novel.

When I delved into this book, I made sure I was comfy, with my trusty reading beagle “Daisy” curled up next to me ready for some napping.  After a few pages I started to feel tranced.  This book will “Grab you and spit you out” – Otuaku.

I couldn’t help but feel as if somehow bells were tolling in my head while some of the rituals were taking place.  I was feeling tightness in my chest, and the feeling of suspense was overcoming my emotions to find out what is going to take place next.

I would have to say some great characters and some not.  The main characters got their day and there was a mild loss in character development for the supporting variety.

Ending – Now let’s not get too carried away.  With the demise of the lawyer and Henry I was fully prepped for the ending to consume Johnny (Bryan) however I was at a loss.  I was expecting death for the main character, but how Brian Keene of me to do so.  I would have to give the ending 4 out of 5.

Overall the book was disgusting, and suspenseful.  I would definitely read from this Author again.
